With methanol gaining momentum as a sustainable marine fuel, new safety protocols, and infrastructure adaptations are crucial. By 2028, over 300 methanol-capable vessels are expected to be operational, creating a pressing need for efficient, reliable supply chains.

Together, TankMatch and Evos are stepping up to meet this challenge, combining their knowledge to provide solutions for methanol bunkering.

Evos is planning to expand its terminal capacity to meet the growing demand for methanol storage and bunkering services. The planned expansion includes five new tanks with a total capacity of 13,500 cbm each, along with a dedicated berth to ensure quick, efficient service.

The companies will have the option to store bio-, e-, and gray methanol, with options for co-mingled or segregated storage based on quality and biogenic content.

The new berth will accommodate bunker barges up to 135 meters in length, with pumping speeds of up to 750 cbm per hour, according to the partners.

“The market was calling for a game-changing solution to integrate storage and bunkering, and we listened,” said Marcel Jordens, Commercial manager, TankMatch.

“By teaming up with Evos, we’re offering a truly comprehensive service. With Evos’ central Rotterdam location, our fleet can easily reach all corners of the ARA region in under 10 hours, enabling fast and flexible bunkering in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp.”

“This partnership is all about delivering smart, sustainable solutions for the future. “Together, we’re making green methanol bunkering easier and more accessible than ever, and we’re proud to play a key role in supporting the maritime industry’s shift towards cleaner energy,” Johannes Veldt, Commercial manager, Evos Rotterdam, commented.

To remind, TankMatch provided the barges for the methanol bunkering operation at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium, during which methanol-powered containership Ane Maersk completed its first bunker operation in European waters. The 16,592 TEU boxship bunkered 4,300 tons of green methanol and 1,375 tons of biodiesel (B100) during the port stay. For the port, it was the first methanol bunkering involving an ocean-going vessel.
