The purpose of the joint venture, named Taiwan International Windpower Training Corporation (TIWTC), is to build a GWO wind energy training centre, delivering training in accordance with international regulations, and providing courses to domestic and international wind power industry personnel.

The training centre will be located at Taichung Harbor, Taiwan. The construction will commence in July 2018, with the centre expected to begin its trial operation in January 2019.

With the commitment to local technician development, basic safety training courses will be provided, according to the new joint venture’s press release. The training centre plans to extend the future service offering to include basic technical training, helicopter underwater escape training, and other bespoke training courses targeted at the offshore wind industry in Taiwan.

The Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed during Taiwan-Europe Wind Energy Summit held in Taiwan on 15 March.
