The Netherlands-based tidal and wave energy developer Symphony Wave Power has completed its prototype assembly, paving the way for upcoming sea trials.

According to the company, the hull and roll membrane have been installed, while hoses and electrical systems are now operational. Final preparations are underway to wire the control unit and initiate testing.

The next phase will involve energy production at sea, with Symphony Wave Power aiming to evaluate the system’s performance under real-world conditions, further advancing the commercialization of its wave energy technology.

In anticipation of this step, Symphony Wave Power said that it will be hosting a meeting in December to provide an opportunity for current and prospective partners to visit the system, gain insights into the project’s progress, and explore opportunities in the next investment round.

In June, Symphony Wave Power unveiled that it is approaching dry testing, the next stage of its wave power technology validation program. This step is said to allow the company to test the functionality and efficiencies before heading to sea trials.

In October 2023, as a part of the ENCORE project, the company conducted lab testing in Sines in Portugal of its submerged wave energy converter solution, and further completed the power take-off (PTO) assembly and testing in the Netherlands at the facilities of partner and investor Multimetaal in Den Helder.
