Swedish Minister for Infrastructure Visits MMT (Sweden)

On 4-5 June 2012, the Swedish Minister for Infrastructure Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd visited MMT head office in Gothenburg, Sweden. The purpose of the visit was to introduce high-tech marine survey and its challenges and opportunities to the minister.

Ola Oskarsson, founder of MMT, invited the minister to a presentation of the company and discussions about employment, education and competitive conditions. The reason for this was to present the vast opportunities for the Swedish West coast as a competence center for marine sciences and modern offshore innovative shipping.

The minister also got the opportunity to visit the survey vessel IceBeam where MMT staff presented geophysical survey methods such as High Resolution multibeam survey, side scanning, sub bottom profiling and ROV inspection.

Ola Oskarssons comment on this visit: “It was a pleasure to present our business and discuss the future for Maritime enterprise, infrastructure, polar competence and science with Mrs Elmsäter-Svärd. I hope that we can contribute to a new policy for shipping and marine technology based on Swedish competence.”
