Swansea Bay tidal lagoon enters new stage

Authorities & Government

The deadline for Planning Inspectorate to submit recommendation for the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate, Ed Davey, regarding the building of the world’s first tidal lagoon in Swansea Bay, set for March 10, 2015.

The six-month examination period closed on December 10. There will now be a period of 3 months for the Examining Authority to consider and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State.

The Secretary of State will have 3 months in which to make their decision, it is stated on National Infrastructure Planning’s web-site.

As announced earlier, the Swansea lagoon project has been included in the National Infrastructure Plan, following the government’s announcement that it will start closer discussions with Tidal Lagoon Power regarding the affordability of the project.
