According to the SCA notice, the allowed residues of LNG cargo shall not exceed 5 percent of the vessel’s summer deadweight instead of 2 percent to grant the LNG vessels the privilege of ballast vessels dues rate.

The authority said the periodical concerning the portion of cargo residues on LNG tankers came into force on July 1.

The decision to amend the regulations has been made “to meet the desire of owners and operators of LNG tankers and to encourage more tankers of such kind to transit the Suez Canal.”
