Suez bags Tangguh LNG Train 3 wastewater system contract

Suez, an Engie company, has been contracted to supply a wastewater treatment system for BP’s Tangguh LNG export facility in West Papua, Indonesia. 

The wastewater treatment system aims to treat 600,000 liters per day of effluents produced by a third LNG process train at Tangguh LNG plant.

It will process high salinity peak and remove free and emulsified oil, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOC) and non-dissolved solids, Suez said.

The Tangguh expansion project will support Indonesia’s growing energy demand, with 75 percent of the annual LNG production of this new line sold to the Indonesian state electricity company, PT PLN.

The third liquefaction train will add 3.8 million tons per annum (mtpa) of production capacity to the existing facility, bringing the total plant capacity to 11.4 mtpa.
