STX France has secured a deal to design, build and install a HVAC offshore substation for Arkona offshore wind farm, a 385 MW project jointly developed by E.ON and Statoil, located in the Baltic Sea, Germany.

STX France scope includes delivery of the jacket foundation, piles, substation topside and the transfer and installation at sea. The contract also includes a one-year maintenance period.

The company has contracted Schneider Electric to provide full electrical package for the substation and ABB to supply electrical transformers. SHL will be in charge of the transport and installation operations.

Design activities have started in July 2015, and construction is expected to start in the 3rd quarter of 2016. The final installation is planned during summer 2018.

“We are delighted that EON, major operator in offshore wind, has entrusted us with the engineering and overall management of a turnkey project that should become a flagship in the marine energy. This new order confirms that we are providing the market with leading edge, value-adding, solutions for offshore power transmission,” said Frederic Grizaud, director of STX France Offshore Energy BU.
