Statoil extends Deepsea Bergen rig gig

Business & Finance

Norwegian oil company Statoil has exercised its first option in the Deepsea Bergen rig’s drilling contract.

Statoil in late May awarded the contract to the Odfjell Drilling-owned Deepsea Bergen rig for drilling activities in 2018-2019.

The contract originally included one firm well plus 4 x 3 optional well.

On Wednesday, December 20 Odfjell Drilling informed that Statoil has exercised the first of four options. The option is adjusted to two firm wells with an estimated duration of 75 days.

The estimated start-up of the contract is 1Q/2Q 2018 in direct continuation with the OMV drilling program.

Deepsea Bergen is a 3rd generation semi-submersible drilling rig of an Aker H-3.2 design.
