Teekay has added to its fleet Randgrid floating, storage and offloading (FSO) unit, which is currently in transit from the shipyard in Singapore to Statoil’s Gina Krog oil and gas field in the North Sea.

The unit underwent a conversion at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore. For the conversion, Teekay used one of its existing shuttle tankers, Randgrid.

Randgrid FSO will operate at the Gina Krog field which started production on June 30, 2017, and is amongst Statoil’s new developments.

The FSO is designed to operate for a minimum of 15 years of uninterrupted operations, without the need to leave the field for drydocking, according to the company.

Before it commences its charter contract with Statoil, Randgrid will undergo field installation and testing, as explained by Teekay.
