Spotted: BW Takes Delivery of First MEGI LNG Carrier

Shipping company BW LNG, part of BW Group, has taken delivery of BW Tulip, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

Delivered on January 5, 2018, BW Tulip is the first of three identical ships the company has on order at Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard.

The 173,400 cbm ship is fitted with the M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) engines.

With a length of 294.9 meters and a width of 46.4 meters, the newbuilding has a gross tonnage of 111,000 tons.

BW Tulip, which has a market value of USD 193.89 million, is jointly owned by BW Gas and China Shipping LNG, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The remaining two LNG Carriers are scheduled for delivery in spring 2018 and 2019.
