BW Courage launched at DSME

Shipping company BW LNG, part of BW Group, splashed its newbuilding Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) last weekend.

The vessel BW Courage, with hull number 2488, was launched at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering’s (DSME) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.

The company informed that the unit, which has a length of 294.9 meters and a width of 46.4 meters, is scheduled for delivery in February 2019.

The 173,400 cbm capacity vessel is part of an order placed with DSME for two such units in September 2015.

BW Group’s shipbuilding contract for the two carriers was valued at around KRW 478 billion (USD 447.2 million).

VesselsValue data shows that the second unit from the batch is expected to join its owner in late 2019.

The company has two more ships on order at DSME. The two 173,400 cbm LNG carriers, which were ordered in February 2018, are set for delivery in the first half of 2020 from the builder’s Okpo yard.

The shipowner is paying KRW 394.1 billion for the new carriers, the DSME said in a regulatory filing.
