The foundations are being sent to the Port of Nigg, from where DEME Offshore will transport them to the Moray East site and install the jackets at their designated locations.

According to Smulders, installation of these jackets will follow shortly.

The company will deliver 55 wind turbine jacket foundations for the project from its facility in Newcastle, with the remaining 45 being delivered by Lamprell from its Sharjah and Hamriyah yards in the United Arab Emirates.

Lamprell started dispatching Moray East jackets this spring, and the first eight of them arrived in Nigg in early May.

In 2019, DEME Offshore selected Global Energy Group to provide the Port of Nigg as a staging port for the Moray East jacket foundations installation works.

The 950 MW offshore wind farm will feature 100 MHI Vestas 9.5 MW turbines, installed in the Moray Firth off the Scottish North East coast.

Moray East is expected to be fully operational by 2022.
