Business & Finance

Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) is looking for a marine contractor to carry out the installation of the PLAT-O tidal device at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC).

UK-based tidal energy developer SME requires a marine contractor to carry out preparatory site works to subsea cable connection system and moorings in order to install its PLAT-O device at EMEC’s grid-connected Fall of Warness tidal test site in Orkney.

Under the contract, the marine operator will also be in charge of the removal of PLAT-O device at the end of predetermined deployment.

The contractor, with the assistance from SME, will be required to provide detailed work plans, documentation and undertake all marine operations to ensure the safe and timely installation and removal of PLAT-O, it is stated in the tender published on the Scottish government’s procurement website.

SME’s PLAT-O tidal platform hosts two Schottel Hydro SIT turbines with the total capacity of 100kW.

The tender is open for applications until May 2, 2017.
