Sif in BorWin Gamma Jacket Project

Business & Finance

Sif Holding, a manufacturer of steel tubulars which are used as foundation components for the offshore wind and offshore oil & gas markets, has been awarded a contract for the production of legs, bracings, pile sleeves and pin piles for the jacket of the BorWin gamma platform.

The project is being undertaken by Petrofac in consortium with Siemens for the German-Dutch transmission grid operator TenneT.

The jacket for the BorWin gamma platform will be built by Heerema Fabrication Group and will house a Siemens HVDC station that will convert the alternating current produced by the offshore wind turbines to direct current before transmitting it onshore to the German high voltage grid.

The total volume of the tubulars for the platform amounts to approximately 8.6 ktons and production is planned in the last quarter of 2016 and the first half year of 2017.
