Siemens Gamesa Orders Seasight Davit Cranes for SeaMade

Business & Finance

Siemens Gamesa has placed an order with Seasight Davits for 58 davit cranes for the SeaMade offshore wind farm in Belgium.

The cranes will be manufactured by Seasight Davits’ parent company Hvide Sande Shipyard, Steel and Service and will have an outreach of 3.2m and a one-ton lifting capacity.

According to the Danish davit crane supplier, the first batch is set to be delivered at the beginning of April.

This is the first order by Siemens Gamesa, the company said, adding that it hopes it represents the beginning of a continuing cooperation.

Siemens Gamesa received the turbine order for the 487MW SeaMade offshore wind farm in December 2018. The project, comprising the 252MW Seastar and the 235MW Mermaid offshore wind projects, will feature 58 units of the SG 8.0-167 DD turbine.

Offshore construction is scheduled to begin this summer, with commissioning expected before the end of 2020.
