Siemens Gamesa and Ziton Sign West of Duddon Sands Blade Upgrade Contract

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy UK Ltd. and Ziton A/S have signed the contract for the upgrade of blades at the West of Duddon Sands wind farm offshore the UK.

Under the contract, Ziton will provide a turnkey solution to upgrade the blades of the wind farm’s 108 turbines.

The upgrade of the blades will be initiated in the near future and is expected to have a duration of twelve months, Ziton said.

The West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm is located in the East Irish Sea, approximately 14 kilometres off Walney Island, Cumbria.

It comprises 108 Siemens 3.6MW wind turbines with a combined capacity of 389MW. The wind farm was officially opened in October 2014.
