SgurrEnergy grabs MeyGen contract

 
SgurrEnergy has been awarded the asset management contract for Phase 1A of the MeyGen tidal energy project.

Renewable energy consultancy SgurrEnergy, part of Wood Group, has secured a contract with the MeyGen project developer Atlantis Resources under which it will act as the site operations contractor initially providing National Grid Control Point services.

SgurrEnergy informed that there is also an option for expanding services to include remote operational monitoring, control and reporting, for the tidal turbines of the MeyGen site in the future.

The company will provide the services from its newly upgraded SgurrControlCentre in Glasgow, Scotland.

Phase 1A of the MeyGen tidal array project will be comprised of 4 turbines, each having a capacity of 1.5MW.

So far, three Andritz Hydro Hammerfest turbines have been installed on the MeyGen site in the Pentland Firth, off Scotland, with the fourth expected to be added in the following months.

Once fully constructed, the MeyGen tidal array project will have the capacity of approximately 400MW.
