Seazip Offshore Service has chartered crew transfer vessel (CTV) SeaTwin 2 from Damen Marine Services for an ROV campaign at the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm.

The ROV equipment was delivered by C-Ventus, who recently won a four-year contract for annual ROV inspections of infrastructure and remediation works at the 295MW wind farm.

According to Seazip, the ROV-CTV set-up provides flexible performance without the standard DP2 vessels and enables fast mooring and ROV deployment by using a rope to moor the vessel to the offshore structure.

The engines are shut down when the vessel is moored, which allows a fuel-efficient operation in comparison to when a DP2 is used, Seazip said.

The Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm comprises 48 Senvion 6.2M126 turbines located some 35km off the island of Helgoland in the German North Sea.

The wind farm, owned by innogy, was fully commissioned in May 2015.
