SeaBird acquired Geowave Voyager and certain seismic equipment earlier this year for a cash consideration of USD 17 million and the NOK 120 million private placement to partly fund the acquisition of the vessel.

As part of the purchase agreement, SeaBird will have a preferred supplier status with CGG when using the Eagle Explorer, the company explained.

SeaBird and CGG have entered into a contract for the vessel, operating as a source vessel. The contract is for 160 days firm with options for CGG to extend.

The work will start in December, after the vessel has completed class renewal.

The Geowave Voyager was built in 2009 and has capacity to tow up to 10 streamers.
