SeaBird Exploration has signed a contract to acquire a 2D seismic survey for an unnamed, international oil & gas company in the Africa region.

The survey is due to start towards the end of September and is estimated to run for approximately three weeks, SeaBird said on Thursday.

The company will be using the Nordic Explorer vessel for the work.

According to the company, the 2D survey in the Africa region fits well with the previously reported 10,000 km 2D contract in Australasia region securing back-to-back utilization of the Nordic Explorer in 4Q 2019 and for most of 1Q 2020.

Earlier this month, SeaBird was awarded a contract to acquire 2D seismic data in the Australasia region, also using the Nordic Explorer vessel. This survey is due to start during 4Q 2019 and is estimated to run for approximately three to four months plus mobilization.
