Scottish wave body sourcing for technical advisors

Authorities & Government

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is looking for qualified individuals to provide technical assessment of the applications in the structural materials and manufacturing processes program.

WES said it will appoint up to three technical experts to evalute the applications moving forward to the second stage of the program whose aim is to investigate the possiblity of reducing the cost of energy produced from waves by constructing typical wave energy converter devices from alternative materials.

Individuals appointed as assessors will be required to provide independent and impartial expert advice, and evaluate 10 applications that cover both technical and commercial elements.

The deadline to apply to the call has been set for January 26, 2018.

Early in 2017, WES awarded £3 million to ten projects as part of the funding call focused on materials and manufacturing processes for wave energy technology.

Some of the projects funded include CorPower Ocean-led project HydroComp; RePOWER project with Cruz Atcheson Consulting Engineers as lead partner; PolyGen-led project ARMWET, and two projects headed by the University of Edinburgh called ELASTO, and RotoHybrid.

WES was set up in 2014 as a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and is fully funded by the Scottish government.
