SBM Offshore won’t bid for Tataruga Verde, Libra FPSOs

SBM Offshore, the world’s largest FPSO supplier, will not be taking part in Petrobras’ FPSO tenders.

The announcement was made today by SBM Offshore in the wake of Petrobras CEO Maria das Gracas Silva Foster’s statement made last month that Petrobras would not be seeking bids from SBM Offshore, as long as the Dutch supplier of floating production units is under bribery investigation in Brazil.

On May 28, 2014 SBM Offshore confirmed that it was in dialogue with Petrobras regarding participation in the upcoming Tartaruga Verde and Libra FPSO tenders. An FPSO is an offshore unit which produces and stores the crude oil from subsea fields and offloads onto transporting vessels.

Based on those discussions, SBM Offshore has today confirmed will not take part as an international contractor in the current tenders for the Tartaruga Verde and Libra fields.
