Saudi Aramco looking to attract shale gas interest

Saudi Arabia’s state-run Saudi Aramco attracted the interest of four companies to work on unconventional gas in the country.

According to the sources South Korea’s GS Engineering and Construction, Italy’s Maire Tecnimont, Japan’s JGC and SNC-Lavalin of Canada were all interested companies.

Aramco plans to produce up to 200 mcf a day of natural gas by 2018 to supply the Waad al-Shamal project, reports Reuters, with the investment being valued at $3 billion.
