SAT scoops Wisting support services deal with OMV

Business & Finance

Norway’s SAT has been awarded a frame agreement with OMV for operations and pre-operations support services on the Wisting license (PL 537) offshore Norway.

The license is located in the Barents Sea some 300 km north of Hammerfest and a 100 kilometers away from any permanent ice.

SAT said on Wednesday that this frame agreement was an opportunity for the company to provide experience and resources from the early project phases to the offshore start-up and operations.

The company is a supplier of systems and material for operator training and operations of oil and gas installations. SAT also supplies SATOS (SAT Operator Support), a web-based database software for operating procedures, integrated operations, and other tasks.

As for recent activity at the Wisting license, the Austrian oil company struck oil in the 7324/8-3 well, appraising the discovery, back in September 2017.

The well was drilled using the Island Innovator semi-submersible drilling rig about two kilometers south of the discovery well 7324/8-1 and 315 kilometers north of Hammerfest.

This was the sixth exploration well in production license 537. OMV’s Norwegian subsidiary, OMV (Norge) AS, is the operator with an ownership interest of 25 percent. Other licensees are Statoil Petroleum (35 percent), Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (20 percent), and Petoro (20 percent).

The area in this license consists of parts of block 7324/7 and block 7324/8. Production license 537 was awarded on May 15, 2009.
