Sandia sets up wave energy webinar

Research & Development

Sandia National Laboratories is organizing a webinar on wave energy with the focus on advanced controls for wave energy devices.

The webinar, to be held on May 26, will discuss advanced controls and its impact on increasing energy absorption from wave energy devices.

Transitioning these control approaches into full-scale devices is pivotal to creating economically competitive devices and putting them in the water, according to Sandia Labs.

During the webinar, researchers from Sandia Labs will present their research on control systems design and testing for wave energy converters, which will be followed by the discussions on the past, ongoing and future work.

To remind, Sandia Labs recently concluded the testing of 1:17 scale wave energy device at MASK basin for US Department of Energy which focused on model validation and system identification, producing high-quality data for control design of WECs.

Note: The date of the webinar has subsequently been changed to June 6, 2016.
