On 11 July, GTT announced that it has received, in the second quarter of 2022, an order from its partner the Korean shipyard SHI. The order is specifically for the tank design of three new LNGCs, on behalf of an undisclosed Asian shipowner.

As part of the order, GTT will design the tanks of the vessels. Each LNGC will offer a cargo capacity of 174,000 bcm and will feature the Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

The shipyards will deliver the vessel in the third quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.

Just last week, GTT also revealed that Samsung Heavy ordered the tank design of two new LNGCs, this time on behalf of a European ship owner. These ships will have a total LNG tank capacity of 174,000 cbm per ship.

According to the latest update, Samsung Heavy’s order book for 2022 amounts to 33 vessels, representing 72 per cent of its annual order target.
