Report: Repsol to buy Talisman?

Spanish oil company Repsol is in talks to buy Canada’s Talisman Energy, Bloomberg has reported.

According to Bloomberg, which quoted people with knowledge of the matter, Repsol is interested in either to acquire some of Talisman’s assets or to takeover the whole company.

As a response to media speculation, Talisman has issued a statement confirming it has been approached by a number of different parties, including Repsol, with regards to various transactions.

“There is no assurance that any transaction will be agreed. Until such time as it is appropriate to make a public announcement on any potential transaction, Talisman does not intend to make any further comment on this matter,” Talisman said in a statement.
