Report: ConocoPhillips keeps COSL’s accommodation rig for Judy

ConocoPhillips has reportedly extended its charter agreement for COSL’s accommodation rig, the COSLRival, currently operating on the Judy field in the UK North Sea.

According to reports from the news website Petro.no (Norwegian language only), the contract for the COSLRival accommodation rig was extended for an additional two months.

The initial contract for the charter between the two companies was signed in February 2016 and started two months later in April. The contract was for a firm four months plus options on the Judy platform to which it has been connected since.

Judy is part of the Judy/Joanne (J-Block) gas condensate and oil fields located in the central North Sea. The Joanne field is a subsea development tied back to the manned Judy platform through two 5.5 kilometer pipelines. The fields currently produce from 16 wells with production from a third field, Jade, also being exported to the Judy platform.

This is not COSLRival’s first contract with ConocoPhillips since it has been employed by the company several times already. Before being employed on Judy, the unit worked for the company on the Jasmine oil field from April 2011 until the end of 2013.

In between these two contracts, the rig worked for British oil major BP on the Magnus field.

Offshore Energy Today has reached out to both ConocoPhillips and COSL seeking confirmation regarding the contract extension. Neither of the two companies were immediately available for comment. We will update the article if and when we receive a reply.
