Report: Chevron hires anchor handling trio from Vroon

Chevron Shipping, a subsidiary of oil major Chevron, has reportedly chartered three anchor handling tug and supply (AHTS) vessels from Dutch shipping company Vroon.

VesselsValue, a website providing values for shipping vessels, said that Chevron Shipping chartered the VOS Champion, VOS Ares, and VOS Atlanta.

According to data from the website, all three vessels were chartered on December 21, 2017.

The term deal for the vessels started on January 1, 2018, and it will end on December 31, 2019.

The youngest of the three anchor handlers is the VOS Champion which was delivered to Vroon at the end of August 2016. The VOS Champion is a 65m AHTS vessel and one of six identical vessels ordered from the Fujian Southeast Shipyard by Vroon.

The vessel has DP2 capabilities, 39 beds for crew and personnel, improved noise and vibration enhancements, 425m2 clear deck area and anchor-handling and towing winches of 1,500m x 64mm.

The two other AHTS vessels were built in 2012 in the same shipyard as the VOS Champion. The VOS Ares and VOS Atlanta are both 59.25 meters long, 14.95 meters wide, and can accommodate 40 people.

According to the latest AIS data, all three vessels are located in the Gulf of Thailand.
