Exploration & Production

Indian offshore drilling contractor Aban Offshore has reportedly found work for one of its jack-up drilling rigs.

According to vessel intel website VesselsValue, Aban Offshore’s Deep Driller 8 jack-up unit has been hired by an undisclosed charterer.

The contract for the rig is expected to start on March 25, 2018, and will run for two months.

The rig’s last reported contract ended in late September 2017, when it worked for Vietsovpetro for a reported dayrate of $47,000.

Deep Driller 8’s AIS shows it as moored at a yard in Singapore, with its destination set to India. The estimated arrival time is set for March 22.

Delivered in 2009 by Keppel in Singapore, the KFELS Super B Class design rig is capable of drilling high pressure, high temperature wells up to 35,000 ft at 350 ft water depth.
