The works will reinstate the defense slopes to provide protection to this vulnerable area, Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership said in their latest announcement.

The project is due to start on site the 18th of June 2018, and programmed to last for approximately 2-3 weeks.

“The promenade will remain open to the public. During this time there will be some disruption around the works area, mainly on the seaward side of the guard railing,” according to the official statement.

The works will involve the removal of any remaining loose blocks from the apron and failed revetment area, new concrete will then be placed in the failed revetment area and finished with a blockwork design.

These are interim works, designed to last until the defenses are fully replaced as part of the Southsea Coastal Scheme.
