As informed, the shipbuilding contract worth KRW 230 billion ($172 million) was signed today (29 January). Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), one of the units of HD KSOE, will construct the vessel.

The new vessel will feature dual-fuel ethane engines and optimized cargo handling systems, to enable lower CO2 and SOx emissions.

According to the firm, the additional energy-saving devices will further contribute to emission reductions. The 98,000 cbm vessel will deliver in 2027 directly into a long-term time charter.

To remind, in November last year, Purus Marine placed an order for two dual-fuel VLECs at HD KSOE. These ships will also be delivered directly into long-term time charters. Classification society DNV has been selected to class two VLECs. They are slated for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
