Thailand’s state-owned PTT is eyeing a stake in Petronas’ natural gas liquefaction plant to be built in Malaysia.

The size of the potential stake and investment is soon to be determined, the company’s spokesperson told Reuters.

PTT, that has set up a global LNG trading unit in June, has on July 20, received the first cargo under a long-term LNG supply contract with Petronas, at its Mat Ta Phut import terminal.

Thai company is looking to up its imports of liquefied natural gas for power generation. It is seen as a possible buyer of the SK316 natural gas block in Malaysia’s Sarawak.
