PSA Inspects Johan Sverdrup Export Pipelines

Operations & Maintenance

Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has carried out an audit of the export pipelines at Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea.

The PSA carried out an audit of Statoil and the installation concept for the two pipelines from Johan Sverdrup.

The audit was conducted as a meeting at Statoil’s premises at Forus, followed by an audit at Saipem, which is responsible for performing the pipeline installation.

The oil from the Johan Sverdrup field will be piped to Mongstad in Hordaland. The gas will be transported through a pipeline linked to the Statpipe system, and then onwards to the processing facility at Kårstø in Rogaland.

No non-conformities were detected during the audit, PSA said.

However, improvement points were identified relating to the updating of governing documents and the plan for performing verifications.

Statoil has been given a deadline of February 15, 2017 to report on how the improvement points will be assessed.

The field is planned to start production in late 2019.
