PSA Inspects Flexible Risers on Njord A (Norway)

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA ) carried out an audit of operation and inspection of flexible risers on Njord A, as well as in Statoil during the period 19 – 22 June 2012.

The objective of the activity was to follow up how flexible risers are operated in Statoil and on Njord A, as well as to follow up and verify measures following the investigations by the PSA and Statoil in 2011.

One nonconformity was identified in relation to maintenance of safety-critical equipment.

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in relation to:

– work processes and management tools

– the company’s own follow-up

Njord gas and condensate field is situated in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The reservoir contains both rich gas and condensate, and consists of two structures, A and B, which were discovered in 2007 and 2000, respectively.
