Poland - Remontowa Starts Construction of New OSVs for Gulf Offshore

The construction of new offshore support vessel was begun in REMONTOWA SHIPBUILDING S.A. on 10th of January 2012.

It will be the first vessel from the series of three units contracted in August last year. The vessels will be built for one of the biggest Owners operating in the North Sea – Gulf Offshore N.S. from Aberdeen belonging to GULF OFFSHORE from USA.

The vessel will be able to fulfill the general demands of the offshore industry as carriage of liquid mud, dry bulk and other general cargo on open deck. The vessel is designed for normal supply services between shore base, drilling sites and other ships as well as for Firefighting and Oil Recovery operations.

Over 1000 m2 working deck area as well as DWT 5100 t, ranks this unit between the biggest platform supply vessels.

This modern vessel will be equipped with in Diesel Electric Propulsion consisting of four main generating sets giving total 6800 kWe.

IMO Class 2 dynamic positioning system allows operatins even in the most difficult weather conditions. Contractual speed – 14 knots is the next advantage of this vessel.

The vessel will be operated by 40-persons crew accommodated in 28 cabins.

She will meet the highest standards of Classification Societies required for operating in the North Sea. The vessel will have “CLEAN DESIGN” certificate and so-called “GREEN PASSPORT”. This document confirms ecological origin of materials used for vessel’s construction.

After the completion of vessel’s construction, advanced sea trials will be carried out. Then the vessel will be ready to operate in North Sea area.
