The Canary Island Oceanic Platform (PLOCAN) has been awarded the Navigare Mare 2019 prize in the Excellens Mare Prizes 2019.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers (pwc) granted the prize to acknowledge the merit and excellence of entities and people who do an outstanding job in the sustainable development of marine maritime activities.

The Navigare Mare award aims to recognize excellence and merit of individuals or entities with proven merit in safety of people in contact with the sea, or who have created forms of cooperation between relevant players related with the sea in order to develop joint activities that add value or with considerable experience working at sea, including operating hours in vessels, platforms or other structures in direct contact with the aquatic environment.

The reason for awarding the prize to PLOCAN highlighted “the way in which PLOCAN operates is an international example of excellence in co-operation among important players associated with the sea to carry out joint activities that add value to the ocean.”

The prize was presented to the director of PLOCAN, Octavio LLinás, at the ceremony held in the city of Figueira da Foz, in Portugal.
