Picture of the Day: Methane Nile Eagle by BG

The Methane Nile Eagle forms part of BG Group’s core fleet of LNG vessels. Built in 2007, the ship is powered by a steam turbine engine and has a capacity of 145,598 cubic metres.

The Methane Nile Eagle holds several unique distinctions among BG Group’s shipping fleet:

– She was the first BG Group-controlled vessel to sail around the world- from the Atlantic LNG terminal on November 4, 2010, to South Korea, Mexico, Chile and back to Atlantic LNG on February 6, 2011 – a total of 94 days;

– She was the first to cross the Pacific Ocean;

– She was the first to reload a vessel from an export terminal (also first-ever re-export for the terminal in Costa Azul, Mexico).
