PHOTO: Ensco jack-up leaves Port of Esbjerg after service stay

Denmark’s Port of Esbjerg on Tuesday shared a photo on its social media channels showing the Ensco 72 jack-up drilling rig departing after a service stay.

According to the update from the port, the Ensco 72 had left earlier this week after a two-month stay during which the rig underwent comprehensive service and maintenance.

The jack-up rig is of a Hitachi K1025N design, built by Hitachi SB & Engineering in 1981. Its next stop is the Dutch North Sea where it will be working for Engie.

Ensco, the owner of the rig said in its October 2016 fleet status report that Engie hired the Ensco 72 as well as the 2000-built Ensco 101 to work in the Netherlands. The initial contract period for the Ensco 72 was from mid-November 2016 until May 2017, but the company said in its most recent report in December that the contract period is now from late January to late August 2017.

Before the service stay in the Port of Esbjerg, Semco Maritime completed a two-month long Special Periodic Survey (SPS) of the Ensco-owned jack-up in November 2016.

During the SPS, the majority of the work was focused on the ballast tanks where many tons of steel have been replaced, including surface treatment. Also, various mechanical, structural, and electrical scopes were completed.
