Petrofac’s Engineering & Production Services (EPS) East division has secured a project support and engineering services contract with Husky Oil China Ltd. (HOCL).

The three-year contract is in support of Husky’s Liuhua 29-1 gas field development project located offshore at the Pearl River Mouth Basin, South China Sea, approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong.

Petrofac said on Tuesday that the scope of services includes the provision of specialist personnel to support the project through execution and pre-commissioning, and to subsequently support operations during commissioning and start-up.

The program of work includes subsea equipment supply, umbilicals and flexibles supply; and overall engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI).

The team will be co-located with Husky’s project team in Shekou, China as well as in the main contractors’ offices throughout the execution of the project.

Mani Rajapathy, Managing Director, Petrofac EPS East, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to support Husky Oil China Ltd with their operations offshore and the development of the Liuhua 29-1 project.

“This builds on our other recent project management contract awards and represents the continued growth of our portfolio track record in the Asia Pacific region.”

In related news, Husky earlier this month said it had drilled a successful exploration well on Block 15/33 in the Pearl River Mouth Basin located in the South China Sea, about 160 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong. Early results from the first of two exploration wells drilled on the 155 square-kilometer block demonstrated four oil-bearing zones with a combined thickness of about 70 meters.

In addition, Husky signed two production sharing contracts (PSCs) with CNOOC for Block 22/11 and 23/07 located in the Beibu Gulf of the South China Sea.
