Petrobras orders more flexible pipe from TechnipFMC

Project & Tenders

TechnipFMC has secured a contract with Brazilian state-owned oil and gas giant Petrobras for the supply of flexible pipe for pre-salt fields offshore Brazil, following the completion of a tender procedure.

Under the contract worth between $250 million and $500 million, TechnipFMC will deliver the design, engineering, and manufacture of flexible pipe for water injection and gas lift.

Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, said: “One of our core technologies will once again support Petrobras’s ambitions, and we are proud of the trust we have built with them over many decades. With this award, we will utilize our global manufacturing capabilities to assist with the continued development of pre-salt reserves.”

The partners in September 2023 signed a contract for the supply of flexible pipes for pre-salt fields in Brazil, under which TechnipFMC was to design, engineer, and manufacture 14 kilometers of gas injection riser pipes and supply associated services including packing and storage.

At the beginning of this year, Petrobras hired TechnipFMC to deliver the Mero 3 HISEP project which uses subsea processing to capture carbon dioxide-rich dense gases and then inject them into the reservoir.

Most recently, it was announced that a pipelay support vessel (PLSV) owned by DOFCON Navegação Ltda., a joint venture of TechnipFMC (50%) and DOF Subsea (50%), would continue working for the Brazilian giant.
