OutSmart and Kongsberg Digital to Jointly Develop Wind Farm Management System

Business & Finance

Independent wind asset operations management specialist OutSmart BV has selected Kongsberg Digital AS to provide an integrated management system on the Kognifai digital platform and ecosystem which will be used to manage OutSmart’s onshore and offshore wind turbine portfolio.

Part of Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore and Consulting GmbH, OutSmart currently operates more than 400 onshore and offshore wind and solar assets (1.8 GW in total) in Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK.

OutSmart has partnered with Kongsberg Digital to establish a fully integrated management system for onshore and offshore wind assets. The parties have established a set of applications on Kognifai that are expected to represent a breakthrough in the way fleets of onshore and particularly offshore wind farms are operated.

“We believe that short- and mid-term efficiency can be predicted well and can be influenced, despite the harsh conditions the renewable energy sector is facing. With this cooperation and new management solutions, we enable ourselves and our clients to deal with these characteristics,” said Dennis Schiricke, Managing Director at OutSmart.

With a common digital platform providing data storage and data security for the asset owner, the new applications will rationalize the operations of OutSmart and its clients, and provide access to tools including advanced analytics to optimize performance and reduce operational cost for the assets, the companies said.

“OutSmart has an impressive breadth of experience in intelligent operation management for wind assets. By combining OutSmart’s services with Kongsberg Digital’s technology, we will provide all aspects of wind power management in one, efficient solution and truly give wind farm owners control of their own data. It is a perfect example of Kognifai’s unique ability to provide a secure, holistic platform for disparate data streams and act as a single solution for diverse industrial operations,” said Hege Skryseth, President of Kongsberg Digital.
