Business Developments & Projects

Ørsted plans to officially commission the 752 MW Borssele 1 and 2 wind farm in the Dutch North Sea on 5 October, barring any negative effects from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The wind farm comprises 94 Siemens Gamesa’s wind turbines, over two-thirds of which have now been installed at the site located 22 kilometres off the coast of the province of Zeeland.

The wind farm delivered the first power to the Borssele Alpha substation at the end of April.

The offshore construction phase started in January with the installation of the first monopile foundation.

Since then, all of the foundations have been installed, and all of the array-cables have been laid.

Once commissioned, Borssele 1 + 2 will become the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
