Subsidiary of the US-based tidal energy developer Ocean Renewable Power Company (ORPC), ORPC Ireland, has organized public meetings to present the feasibility assessment results of tidal energy opportunities in the coastal waters of County Donegal, Ireland.

The project, funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, was launched last year to review existing resource data, evaluate grid accessibility, identify existing marine users and sensitive environmental areas, assess supply chain viability, and conduct community engagement activities.

ORPC Ireland will hold two meetings to present the results of the study to public, and to ask for feedback on February 9, 2016, at Tara Hotel, Killybegs, and on February 10, 2016, at The Carrigart Hotel in Carrigart.

ORPC established ORPC Ireland in 2015 to seize tidal energy opportunities of the Irish market. It is based at CoLab Business Centre at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
