ONGC takes Shelf Drilling jack-up for a three-year spin

Jack-up drilling specialist Shelf Drilling has been awarded a three-year contract in India for one of its rigs.

Shelf Drilling said on Wednesday the contract was for the Ron Tappmeyer jack-up rig with the client being Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), India’s national oil company.

The contract is for operations in the Mumbai High are, offshore India. The planned start-up of operations for the 1978-built jack-up rig is in the second quarter of 2019.

Shelf Drilling, world’s largest jack-up rig owner, did not disclose the financial details of the contract.

According to data on the company’s website, Shelf Drilling has eight rigs currently deployed in India.
