Day two in pictures

Offshore Energy 2014 Exhibition and Conference, being held in Amsterdam, is now at its second and last day for this year.

Described as the fastest growing gathering of offshore industry professionals in Europe, the event will on this second day host conferences covering developments in Wave and Tidal Energy, Subsea Processing, Regulations for Offshore Services vessels and Human Capital Panel.

Furthermore, at the “Offshore Vessels: Market Update conference”, Edward Heerema, President of Allseas, wiIl speak about how, in the recent past, international subsea and installation contractors have had to reduce their expectations of the offshore market due to an oversupply of vessels and because of the high risk and low margins of EPIC contracts, caused mainly by project complexity, schedule risk and high liabilities to the client.

In this presentation a short update on the approaching of the giant single-lift vessel “Pieter Schelte” will also be given.

Sjoerd Hendriks, Design Manager, GustoMSC will present the company’s newly designed drillship.

Also, Royal IHC Ronald van Son, Product Director for Custom Built Vessels, at Royal IHC will speak on the company’s project of designing and building 10 pipelayers for Brazil, of which three have so far been delivered within 36 months.

Sulfur Emissions

Lynnda Pekel, Manager Offshore Technology and Business Development at ABS will talk about innovative design solutions being proposed and the ABS’ cooperation with regulators, owners and operators to develop written regulations and processes to address the sulfur emissions limit for offshore vessels.

As of 1 January 2015, the sulfur emissions limit applicable to ships and offshore support vessels (OSVs) operating in emission control areas (ECAs) will drop to no more than 0.10 %. Pekel will reveal which class issues are faced when designing, fabricating and operating an LNG fueled OSV in the North American ECA.

Human capital

This year’s Human Capital Panel will see into practices for effectively planning, sourcing and deploying resources to deliver on business objectives.

The panel will see speakers from Shell, Fluor, Weatherford, VBMS Holding, Damens Shipyards group and Van Oord.

600 exhibitors, 10.000 visitors

Offshore Energy Exhibition and Conference, the two-day annual event, held in the Amsterdam Rai exhibition center, this year includes an exhibition where more than 600 supply chain companies showcase their products and services.

The event is expected to attract 10.000 visitors.
