October offshore rig count up

Baker Hughes Incorporated has posted the international rig count for October 2014 on its Investor relations website. The international offshore rig count is up by 10 rigs when compared to last year. 

The international rig count for October 2014 was 1,308, down 15 from the 1,323 counted in September 2014, and down 7 from the 1,315 counted in October 2013.

The international offshore rig count for October 2014 was 326, down 7 from the 333 counted in September 2014, and up 10 from the 316 counted in October 2013.

The average U.S. rig count for October 2014 was 1,925, down 5 from the 1,930 counted in September 2014, and up 181 from the 1,744 counted in October 2013. The average Canadian rig count for October 2014 was 424, up 18 from the 406 counted in September 2014, and up 46 from the 378 counted in October 2013.

The worldwide rig count for October 2014 was 3,657, down 2 from the 3,659 counted in September 2014, and up 220 from the 3,437 counted in October 2013.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
