The PRSI Pool includes 23 companies covering their offshore pipeline and power cable repair contingency via the pool, among which are energy companies such as Equinor, Statnett, Aker BP, Shell and Neptune Energy.

The agreement allows NKT to perform turnkey repairs for the approximately 6,000 kilometers of offshore power cables owned by the member companies, mainly in the North Sea, and covers a diverse range of cables, including DC XLPE cables, mass-impregnated cables, oil-filled cables, and AC cables.

NKT will provide all needed equipment for the turnkey repairs. When performing repairs on a power cable, the company may use its cable-laying vessel (CLV) NKT Victoria, certified to run on biofuel, or its cable handling system.

The agreement has options for two times two-year extension.

“We have a longstanding and close relationship with Equinor, administrator of the PRSI Pool, and we are pleased to have been chosen again as the service provider for a wide variety of cable types. This is a testimony to our extensive experience within maintenance and repair,” said Johan Thörnqvist, Head of Offshore Sales, Service in Sweden at NKT.

NKT Cables Group is committed to reducing its absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90% by FY2030 from an FY2019 base year.

In September 2023, the company received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term decarbonization targets, said to represent an important step towards becoming a net-zero emissions company by 2050.
