Norway: Lundin to Use Bredford Dolphin at PL 519

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent to Lundin Petroleum for exploration drilling in the Norwegian part of the North Sea with the Bredford Dolphin offshore drilling rig.

The consent relates to the drilling of exploration well 6201/11-3 which is part of production licence 519 with Lundin Norway AS as the operator.

The planned position of the well is:

N 62º 02′ 44.96”E 01º 30′ 13.07”. Water depth at the site is 382.5 m.

The operation has an estimated duration of 53 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Bredford Dolphin is a third generation, type Aker H-3, semi-submersible drilling facility. The facility was commissioned in 1976. The rig is owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Fred Olsen’s subsidiary Dolphin AS (Dolphin).
